ABOUT THE BOOK:

The Peter Whitmore story has captured the country’s attention since the notorious sex offender shocked the nation with a sadistic con job in 2006 that saw him kidnap two young Prairie boys from their unsuspecting families. The case sparked a desperate manhunt and a flood of anger as citizens were left wondering why such a dangerous predator wasn’t locked up

Mike McIntyre led national coverage of the case and won a Beyond Borders media award for his efforts.

In Devil Among Us, McIntyre take readers inside Whitmore’s crimes, into the lives of his many victims and reveals how a lax legal system ignored repeated warning signs that another violent attack was imminent.

McIntyre also explores the controversial public and political fall-out from Whitmore’s case – claims of mental illness, the merits of chemical castration and other treatment, dangerous offender designations, grooming of victims, plea-bargaining and Ottawa’s push for tougher sex offender legislation.

Devil Among Us contains extensive and exclusive details about Whitmore and his crimes, including detailed interviews with the families of his two most recent victims, parole documents, prison reports, medical reports, Whitmore’s handwritten “biography”, interviews with Whitmore’s family, new details about the Saskatchewan manhunt and police investigation and much, much more.

McIntyre’s latest true crime tale represents an alarming wake-up call to justice officials and a chilling reminder to Canadians about the devils who live among us.
