Boy, 15, facing assault charge after discovery of Saskatchewan woman's body

NIPAWIN, Sask. – A 15-year-old youth has been charged with aggravated assault following the discovery of a woman’s body in Nipawin, Sask.
RCMP say the charge stems from an alleged encounter that happened before Rose Budd was found Tuesday in the backyard of a business in the community.
The 28-year-old woman was a resident of Nipawin, which is about 325 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon
Police say the teen, whose name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, also lives in the town.
Sgt. Brian Jones, an RCMP spokesman, says it’s unusual for an assault charge to be laid in a sudden-death investigation.
No other details were released about the case.
The youth appeared in Nipawin provincial court on Wednesday where he was remanded in custody until his next appearance in a Tisdale, Sask., courtroom Tuesday.
