Alleged Dicaprio slasher arrested; Toronto woman arrested for slashing actor with beer bottle
DATE: Jul 1, 02:03 PM
By The Canadian Press
TORONTO — A 39-year-old Canadian woman has been arrested and is being held for extradition for allegedly slashing film star Leonardo DiCaprio in the head with broken glass at a Hollywood party four years ago.
Toronto police say a woman struck DiCaprio with a beer bottle on the night of June 17, 2005, causing him to get medical treatment with several stitches to his neck and ear.
A warrant was later issued in Los Angeles for the arrest of Aretha Stephanie Wilson for assault with a deadly weapon.
After she failed to turn herself in, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office contacted police in Toronto, believing she had fled to her home in Canada.
In 2006, Wilson was charged with the assault of her ex-boyfriend in Toronto. She eventually received a suspended sentence and two years of probation for the attack.
American officials couldn’t request her extradition until her probation was finished. She was arrested on Monday.
