JURY POLL

Flight attendant charged with setting fire on plane now on the run

DATE: Sep 5, 11:16 AM

FARGO, N.D. — A flight attendant charged with setting fire to an airplane bathroom while on a flight to Saskatchewan is reportedly on the run.

Eder Rojas failed to show for a court appearance in Fargo, N.D., today and U.S. District Judge Rodney Webb ordered that he be found and arrested.

The Woodbury, Minnesota, man is charged with knowingly and wilfully setting fire to an aircraft.

The May 7 Compass Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Regina made an emergency landing in Fargo.

The federal complaint against Rojas says he was upset with the airline for making him work the route.

He earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge. Rojas was ordered to live at halfway house in Fargo, but court officials say he was last seen about 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Defence lawyer Steven Light told the judge that Rojas has been “incredibly unreceptive” and wouldn’t speak to him.
